TECHNIQUES:
1- ANKLE SWEEP: The ankle sweep in jiu-jitsu is a great basic sweep that will work over and over again for you. When your opponent stands up to open your closed guard, he often steps close to your hips to keep his balance, and when he does, you just have to grab his ankles and pinch your knees to sweep him backward!
2- OVERHEAD SWEEP: The overhead sweep or Tomoe-Nagi is a fun sweep that uses your partner’s momentum against him. When he leans into you while standing in your guard, your feet move to his hips and you bring your knees to your chest. As you pull his upper body down, your feet launch him over your head. A follow-up back roll lands you in the mount.
