TECHNIQUES:
1- REAR NAKED CHOKE (MATA LEAO): The rear-naked choke is probably one of the most famous jiu-jitsu submissions because it is often executed in MMA. For this example, you will start in the back mount on your opponent. Make sure you are under his chin when you slide your arm around his head and don’t leave your arm dangling out while you slide your other hand up and behind his head. This can be executed easily in and out of the gi.
2- ESPALHA FRANGO – CHOKE: The back position is an incredibly dominant position in jiu-jitsu. Once you have both your hooks on your opponent’s thighs, it’s hard for him to escape your control. Sometimes your opponent will roll to his belly to try to escape, but he opens himself up to a much worse position! Use your hooks on his thighs to keep him in place while you bridge down and extend your legs to flatten him out. End with a collar choke!
