The X Guard is a very effective open guard positions in BJJ. You should learn this technique on your early journey in jiu-jitsu (white & blue belt). If you decide to stick with it, you will become pretty much unstoppable up until you earn your black belt. The X Guard offers great control and attacks, multiple sweep options, and easy entries & transitions. A lot of this happens when you’re underneath your opponent, which makes their base really easy to control. Use this technique to also attack Submissions, and guard pass transitions as you come up on top.
