Sparring is essential in BJJ. It’s a unique training tool that will help you familiarize yourself with the specific positions and flow of real-world hand-to-hand combat. Rafael Vasconcelos received his black belt from Leandro Lo in October 2017, before moving to California to train at the Atos Jiu-Jitsu Headquarters under Andre Galvao. He is a 2x IBJJF American Nationals Champion (brown and black); an IBJJF South American Championships medalist; and a IBJJF World Championship silver medalist (purple).
