The Guillotine Choke: The guillotine choke is a common submission in grappling and Mixed Martial Arts, especially when your opponent shoots for a double leg takedown with bent-over posture. When this happens quickly lock the head and curl it downward while putting forward pressure with your hips to tighten the submission.
- Your partner is lowering his base to shoot for a double-leg takedown.
- He leads with his head and is bent over. As his head gets close to you, reach around his neck with your right arm, and grab your left hand.
- Be sure the blade of your wrist is on your partner’s neck and begin to stand more upright.
- Curl your wrists downward toward yourself and stand straight up.
- Arch your back to fully extend your hips into the choke.
- Your partner will have to tap into the pressure on his neck.
