TECHNIQUES:
1- MOUNT CROSS CHOKE: The mount cross choke works exactly the same way as the closed guard cross choke. Make a strong, deep grip on your partner’s collar and then sneak your other hand under your arm to make a grip on his other collar. Finish with your head touching the mat to keep your balance as you cinch the choke tight.
2- MOUNT NUTCRACKER CHOKE: Because it is a bit unconventional, the nutcracker choke from the mount is a sneaky move that most modern practitioners won’t expect. Obtain inside control of your partner and grip his collars on both sides to execute a choke that is administered using your knuckles on his neck.
3- NECK CRANK (ILLEGAL MOVE): The neck crank is an illegal move when fighting in most sanctioned tournaments in jiu-jitsu. Still, it is good to learn it for a self-defense situation, and also so you know not to perform it in class by accident. It is important to note that the reason this is illegal is: because it compresses the spine – it is not a choke.
