TECHNIQUES:
1- HIP THRUSTING SWEEP (PORTUGUESA OR BARRIGADA): The hip thrusting sweep, or hip-bump sweep, is a high-percentage move that also sets up submissions like the kimura shoulder lock and the guillotine. You must use your partner’s momentum against him for this to work. Do not try to sweep with this move if he’s powering down into you.
2- KIMURA FROM CLOSED GUARD: The kimura from closed guard works well as a combination with the hip bump sweep in the previous technique. Note that your opponent must have his hands on the ground to set up this move properly. Finish this submission slowly to avoid injuring your partner.
3- KIMURA OFF HIP THRUSTING COUNTER: Now you will put the last two techniques together for a great combination. Prepare the hip bump sweep, but your partner will lean into you to counter the momentum. When he does, trap his arm and finish the kimura.
