TECHNIQUES:
1- FRONT KICK DEFENSE: For the front push kick defense your goal is to catch the kick and then quickly lift it vertically while driving your opponent backward for the counter throw. Focus on his chambered knee and prepare with ade-quate spacing to avoid the brunt of the force. If your opponent is flexible you can drive forward while using your whole span to bring his bottom foot off the floor.
2- FRONT KICK DEFENSE WITH PIVOT: This front push kick defense slips the attack and puts you in the perfect spot for a follow-up strike of your own, in this case, an elbow strike to the temple. These positions make for a great warm-up and are also helpful not only for self-defense but faster reaction times and hand-eye coordination.
3- FRONT HIGH KICK DEFENSE: The high front kick defense is similar to the previous technique with the exception that the elevated leg is easy to catch after the slip. This leg control lends itself to massive counter takedowns like the below Osoto-Guruma leg sweeping throw.
