Losing to Buchecha in 2013…

Hey everyone, Andre Galvao here!
No matter how good you are, some days you’re going to lose a fight…
That day for me was in 2013, fighting against the legend Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida in the Open Class Final of the Pan Championship.
On the day Buchecha was the better fighter – but you know what, I still raised my own hand after the fight!
I gave my best during those ten minutes…
As you’ll see, I gave EVERYTHING in this fight, but Buchecha was simply better on the day.
(In case you don't remember, I did beat Bechecha the year before back in 2012 😅🤜🏽✨🤛🏽)
But, as John Kavanagh, Conor McGregor’s coach always says:
“Win or Learn”
That day I learned so much about myself.
Being humble doesn’t mean putting yourself down. It means that you’re down to earth.
I learned so much about my limits as a fighter. Buchecha is one of the GOATs of Jiu-Jitsu, and he also had a HUGE size advantage.
So as you go into the weekend, just think about your recent struggles – whether in BJJ or even in life.
Sometimes you have to bring yourself back to reality and realize that there are limits to what you can do.
That doesn’t mean you stop pushing – it’s just a reminder to recognize what you’re capable of and celebrating yourself when you’ve pushed yourself to the max…
Even when that doesn’t get the result you want.
Oss!
